So, once you’ve established what it is you’re seeking to achieve within the business, coaching becomes very practical. It’s very implementation-oriented in my view. This isn’t just about discussing theoretical concepts and about learning. Information, education and learning, they are available to all of us all the time. We can go onto Wikipedia or Google and find out pretty much anything we need to know.
It’s not really about that anymore. There was a time when you could sell information, Encyclopedia Britannica, for example—people used to peddle around the streets. But now, it’s all about implementation. So, coaching is very practically oriented.
What are we going to do next? How are you going to implement it? What impact are we looking for?
It’s a bit like any instruction: What is it we’re seeking to achieve? What are the resources available to us? What’s the desired outcome, and what’s the time frame? It’s very much about implementation.
